Must-Have Skills:

  • US CPA designation.
  • 8+ years of US tax experience handling complex tax returns, reviews, examinations, and research at a CPA firm in the United States.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience representing clients before tax authorities.
  • Proven experience managing and supervising the work of tax staff.
  • Current employment at a CPA firm in the United States.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid capacity at the Atlanta office.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Performs technical tax reviews and approvals of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations across all levels of complexity.
  • Ensures all federal and state income tax returns are prepared timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Delegates and manages tax research projects to produce accurate and efficient results.
  • Actively participates in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Business Assurance Department with larger clients.
  • Serves as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and Business Assurance staff on specific tax issues and questions.
  • Assumes client service responsibility, working directly with clients when delegated by the Partner.
  • Communicates important tax updates and developments to relevant firm personnel, ensuring clients are informed of changes that affect them.
  • Supervises the tax team and provides on-the-job training.
  • Assists the Business Assurance (Audit) Department with larger clients as needed.

Requirements:

  • Current CPA license is required.
  • 8 years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating proven progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research.
  • At least 2 years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
  • Minimum of 1 year supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent accounting hours required; Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
  • A minimum of 40 hours of continuing education is required annually.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
  • Proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Tax or other tax automation/workflow software is preferred.
  • Client-service oriented.
  • Team player with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Independent and self-motivated.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
